Barton eatery knocked down by flood

BARTON — The proprietors of Parsons Dinner House had initially hoped to reopen within a week or so after the popular restaurant was damaged by catastrophic flooding on July 10.

But in an interview last week, they said they now think it could be months — a month if they’re lucky — before reopening is possible.

Steve Vazzano and Maria Hill live in Glover, but Mr. Vazzano had checked the restaurant three or four times that day, to see what the Barton River was doing and if they needed to worry.

The situation didn’t look dire, so when Ms. Hill got a call from her son and his girlfriend, Erica Flanagan, at 10:30 that night saying the restaurant was under water, they were shocked.
