Barton Celebrated all week long

 BARTON – Merriness was in the air during Barton Celebrates, a weeklong mini-festival that showcased the history and resilience of the village.  Families and people of all ages came together to enjoy food, music, and good times, learn more about Barton, and have fun.

“There’s something about this place that makes people want to stay and think hard about leaving,” Chronicle founder Chris Braithwaite said in a talk on Tuesday night.

He spoke of the tiny eight-page paper the Chronicle was when it first started, how hard they worked on it, and their surprise upon remembering it all had to be done again the next week when they finished the first issue.

When asked why he chose the name for the paper, Mr. Braithwaite said “Chronicle” was closest in the dictionary to “chronic alcoholic.”

There were about 25 people who came to hear Mr. Braithwaite talk, and his words set off hoots of laughter and deep contemplation….
