Bar­ton board keeps the liv­ing from the dead

BAR­TON — Few of the liv­ing re­ally want to sleep in a grave­yard, al­though the dead find the ac­com­mo­da­tions suit­able to their needs.  Such con­sid­er­a­tions called for pri­vate dis­cus­sion at the Bar­ton Se­lect Board meet­ing Mon­day night.  The board and a res­i­dent talked about a re­quest to sell a por­tion of the Wel­come O. Brown Ceme­tery be­fore com­ing to an agree­ment that works for the town, one of the grave­yard’s neigh­bors, and those who ex­pect to be buried in the ceme­tery when their time comes to die.

Board mem­bers got a let­ter from An­gela Mar­tin Schnellinger, an abut­ting landowner, ask­ing them to con­sider the sale of four acres of the ceme­tery. …
