Two young children peer eerily at the viewer, surrounded by jellyfish and fossil motifs. An old woman with a straw, broad-brimmed hat gives a mysterious smile in another room. Four months of Vermont weather hang in perfect symmetry, from March until July.
These are all oil painting subjects of Barton-based artist Ann Young, who is exhibiting her work at Greater Barton Arts (GBA) through the month of August. Darting from realism to surrealism, from landscapes to human subjects, Ms. Young has no boundaries to her work, and tends to fly wherever inspiration guides her wings.
