A memorable sugar season

WEST GLOVER — Deep in the sugar woods of West Glover lies a small sugarhouse that has created a lot of neighborhood memories over the years.  The 60-year old structure belongs to Howie and Stephan Cantor, who make a living selling homemade maple syrup and gourmet maple candy, in both Vermont and at the Union Square GreenMarket in New York City.  The Cantors have been sugaring these woods every spring since 1986.  When they first purchased their property, it was just a sugarbush, but since then they have built a house and a home there.  On a recent April evening, while he was hard at work boiling sap and stoking fires, Mr. Cantor paused to share his remembrances of those early years.
