Work in progress to premiere in Greensboro

GREENSBORO — The stage at the Highland Center for the Arts was dim Saturday, but it was filled with a crowd of women trying on brightly colored costumes.  Clare Dolan, director of a work-in-progress called Women I’ve Seen Before, eyed the outfits carefully.

It could be seen that each color was shared by several performers, but why that was the case only became obvious when the performers began rehearsal.

The show is based on playwright Caryl Churchill’s Escaped Alone, in which a group of three women seated in a garden is joined by a fourth for a conversation that is both ordinary and highly disturbing..
