NEWPORT — On August 20 two men appeared remotely in the Criminal Division of Orleans County Superior Court to deny murder charges in two different killings.
Brownswell Cedano, 29, currently incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution Schuylkill in Minersville, Pennsylvania, pled innocent to second-degree murder in the death of Richard Poginy in November 2019.
Jakiy Tramaine Corey Keith, 25, of Hartford, Connecticut, entered a plea of innocent to felony charges of first-degree murder and unauthorized removal of a dead body. He is accused of killing Kayla Wright in February.
Judge Rory Thibault set bail for Mr. Cedano at $500,000 and for Mr. Keith at $250,000. Neither is likely to be released soon regardless of their ability to raise the bond money. Mr. Cedano was convicted in federal court of selling drugs in Rutland and Mr. Keith is in federal custody awaiting trial on a charge of conspiracy to possess controlled substances, including cocaine base, with the intent to distribute.
