Schools lack of educators hits family hard

IRASBURG — The shortage of educators has hit home for one Irasburg couple and their daughter.  Miley Brochu needs a paraeducator to assist her at school, but so far this year, the Irasburg Village School has been unable to find someone qualified to help the young student.

In 1975, the Education for All Handicapped Children Act said that students with disabilities were guaranteed a free and appropriate public education.  For Phil and Lynn Brochu, a promise to their daughter has been left unfulfilled.
