For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic shut down all the fun, a group of enthusiasts took to the rails in their restored “motor cars” — railroad track inspection cars also known as speeders, section cars, putt-putts, jiggers, trikes, quads, and trolleys.
Through a collaboration between the Vermont Rail System (VRS) and New England Rail Excursions (NEREX), about 40 motor cars completed a two-day, 200-mile trek from White River Junction to Newport and back last weekend.
