ISLAND POND — It is the time of year for nice cars to come out of the garage, the dust cover thrown to the side so that a treasured vehicle can take the joy rides all auto enthusiasts love. Clear skies mean clear paths, and after giving a prize automobile its wash and polish, an afternoon cruise in a vintage car bound for nowhere in particular offers a distinctly nostalgic experience. There’s something timeless that a fleet form of transport inspires in people, whether it be the raw power or the artistic beauty the machine might represent to them. Motoring along the roadways, showcase cars and convertibles with the top down aren’t an uncommon sight during the weekend when motorheads meet to share in the pride of their rides. Last Saturday, one such gathering in Island Pond saw several hot rods grace the roadways as over thirty cars drove into town for the social cruise-in.
