Timothy Souliere, 63, of Barton pled innocent to a felony charge of attempting to unlawfully trespass in an occupied residence, disorderly conduct by fighting, and three charges of violating conditions of release. Judge Badgewick released Mr. Souliere on conditions and a $1,500 unsecured appearance bond.
Vermont State Police Trooper Jacob Shores’ affidavit says a woman called police around 8:30 p.m. on September 8 and said a man was standing on the porch of her Barton home and refused to leave. The woman told police the man had forced his way onto the porch and said her husband had armed himself with a shotgun because they feared the man would try to break down their door, the affidavit says.
Trooper Shores said he and Sergeant Garces got to the house about 15 minutes later and found the man lying on the porch in his sleeping bag. He said he was cautious due to the woman’s report and drew his service weapon as he opened the porch door.
According to the affidavit, the man, who proved to be Mr. Souliere, was arrested after a small amount of resistance. It says Mr. Souliere, who smelled strongly of alcohol, insisted a court required him to be at that house.
