NEWPORT — People living near several Northeast Kingdom lakes filed petitions with the state Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) asking that wakeboats be prohibited from operating there. While each group sought the same end, each put forward different reasons to support its call for a wakesports ban.
On December 10 those concerned with the two lakes in Averill, Echo Lake in Charleston, Lake Parker and Shadow Lake in Glover, and Lake Willoughby in Westmore had a chance to present their point of view at a four-hour-long public hearing. …
