Irasburg man wins Top Dessert Detective

IRASBURG — On a beautiful autumn day in Philadelphia, nearly 12 years ago, a Ph.D. student named Thomas McCurdy was crossing the campus of Temple University, in need of a brain break from his studies.  As he walked along, Mr. McCurdy thought about what relaxing activity he could engage in that would take his mind off his stress, if even for a few minutes.

He thought about how much he would enjoy baking a cake, something that had begun as an enjoyable hobby for him in college.  Then, as if the metaphorical light bulb had gone off, he halted in his tracks and asked himself:  “What if I could bake a cake every day?”
