In Westmore, North Beach paving planned

WESTMORE — Monday’s meeting of the Westmore Select Board began with a field trip to Lake Willoughby’s North Beach.  There, most members of the board, the road foreman, and a couple of community members brought out the measuring tape and discussed pros and cons of slightly widening the road that runs by it.  Once the caravan made its way back to Westmore Town Hall, discussion included increased zoning fees, a donated hot water decontamination station to help mitigate invasive species, establishing a new committee, and signing the contract to bring swim lessons back to the lake.  The board circled back to the paving matter later in the evening.   Select board member Miriam Simonds was absent.

At the site visit select board member Jason Petrarca said the board has to decide whether or not to take the opportunity (while the road crew is already paving) widen the road along North Beach with blacktop.  That would allow the town to create a dedicated walking path later on, should ….
