DERBY — Everything seems to be getting more expensive, even the cost of having an accident. At its meeting Monday night, the select board was approached by emergency responders said they will increase the cost of their services. Higher wages and the rising price for materials, are at the root of why those who respond to the scene of a crime or medical emergency need more to get by.
The board was first approached by Jeff Johansen of the Newport Ambulance Service. He said his organization will need to charge $15,500 more to serve Derby in 2025.
After sharing that news, Mr. Johansen gave a short report on the service’s recent activities.
