GREENSBORO — What does it take to live a happy life? Not much according to Jason Crane, the somewhat nomadic office manager of the Greensboro United Church of Christ. Mr. Crane has been living happily, and by choice, in a van since December of last year. Shortly before the pandemic hit, he and his partner at the time moved from the east coast to Tucson, Arizona. Their relationship became a casualty of the lockdown days. When he separated from his partner and found himself looking for a new home, he came to the realization that he no longer had to, or wanted to, pay rent or utilities, and that living without them afforded him freedoms that vastly outweighed the comforts they provided.
