Vermont Supreme Court finds against Holland Cannabis

MONTPELIER — The Vermont Supreme Court unanimously upheld the Vermont Cannabis Control Board’s decision to revoke the Holland Cannabis Company’s license.  Holland Cannabis, a company located in Derby, the decision said, was found by the board to have used myclobutanil, a chemical compound used in several commercial fungicides, in its growing operation.

Myclobutanil, the ruling says, is “categorically prohibited for use in Vermont cannabis cultivation because it may cause illness in humans if swallowed, inhaled, or smoked.”

Associate Justice Nancy Waples’ written decision says the cannabis board investigated Holland in 2023 after consumers complained of illness.  The result was an agreement calling for Holland to refrain from engaging cannabis commerce for six months, pay $27,000 in administrative penalties, and …
