NEWPORT — After Cruz Gary, 39, for whom court records provide no address, pled innocent to two felony charges of first-degree aggravated domestic assault and domestic assault, Judge Rory Thibault ordered him to be held without bail. According to the affidavit filed by Vermont State Police Trooper James Gallup, police got a report from a Barton woman around 11 a.m. on April 10. It says the woman said she had been arguing with Mr. Gary who was pushing her and calling her insulting names. According to the affidavit, Mr. Gary refused to leave unless the woman drove him to a place three hours away from Barton.
About ten minutes later, Trooper Gallup called in to the police dispatcher and was connected to the woman caller. He said the woman acknowledged his attempts to speak with her, then the sound of the phone being jostled around.
