Workshop will help independent authors market their books
For authors who go the self-publishing route or publish through a small, independent press, the challenge of marketing and selling books — especially the first time around — can be intimidating. Building an “author platform,” harnessing the power of social media, and even finding the right outlets for sales are all pieces that go into making a book successful.
The Galaxy Bookshop in Hardwick will present a special workshop that will break down all of the parts of the marketing puzzle and help authors reach their goal of getting books seen and read by more people. “Marketing Your Self-Published Book” will be presented at the bookshop on Wednesday, February 21, at 7 p.m. Registration is required, and there is a non-refundable fee of $25 per person. Details can be found at galaxybookshop.com.
Panelists for this marketing workshop will include author Kathryn Guare, author and Independent Publishers of New England representative Charlotte Pierce, author and entrepreneur Bill Schubart, and bookseller Sandy Scott. All three authors on the panel have found success in self-publishing and are eager to share their experience with others. Ms. Scott will offer advice from a retailer’s perspective on best selling practices.
“Marketing Your Self-Published Book” will also be presented at Bear Pond Books in Montpelier on Tuesday, February 20, at 7 p.m. Details for this workshop can be found at bearpondbooks.com.
