Tree mining in Barton

• Bookmarks: 174

We can assume one or more large Picidae, likely Pileated Woodpeckers, are responsible for the large sawdust piles at the base of trees along Rte. 5, at the beginning of High Bridge Hill in Barton.

They’ve mined into the trees for some time now, creating a unique pattern that might eventually accommodate a smaller species quite nicely!
