Newport voters went to the polls Tuesday and decided against repealing an ordinance that will allow ATV traffic throughout the city’s business district next year. The vote was 414 in favor of keeping the ordinance to 294 opposed. The wording of the ballot was tricky and members of the Border Line Ridge Riders worked hard to let people know a no vote was the right one for people favoring ATVs to cast.
