Newport City.. Vote scheduled on opening streets to ATVs

NEWPORT — Around 50 people jammed the city council’s chambers Monday evening.  Some were there to support opening city streets to all-terrain vehicle (ATV) traffic, and some were there to ask council members to reconsider rental increases for seasonal campers at Prouty Beach.  And it’s possible some showed up to hear plans for a new assisted living facility on Lakemont Road. 

Whatever the reason, none went away feeling they had been shortchanged by one of the longest meetings in recent memory.
