NEK grapples with opioid addiction

NEWPORT — A shortage of affordable housing and lack of transportation are two of the major obstacles to recovering from addiction, Congressman Peter Welch was told Monday at a roundtable here held to discuss opioid and other addictions in the Northeast Kingdom. Law enforcement, doctors, mental health workers, and others who deal with addiction daily were at the meeting to talk about what’s being done, and what more can be done, to help addicted Vermonters.
