Julie Raboin gets an apology

NEWPORT — City Attorney David Rugh stood at a special council meeting held on February 22 and said the charges against council member Julie Raboin, which roiled a meeting three days earlier, were based on erroneous information.

“What was made was an allegation,” he said in answer to a question from a member of the public. “It was not taken as fact and that’s why we’re here today. She was entitled to respond to that allegation. She responded, and it turned out that what we heard was not true. Plain and simple. That’s it.”
