BROWNINGTON — On April 8, Bill Davis, a member of the Brownington Planning Commission, gave the town’s select board a report on efficiency upgrades being made to town buildings through the Municipal Energy Resilience Program (MERP). Mr. Davis spoke about solar panels installed to power town buildings. He said the panels are generating more electricity than the office uses, causing the meter to actually run backwards.
He said the town won’t get paid for sending power back to the grid, but it can offset costs through Barton Electric. He said he will talk to Barton Electric to discuss how much power town buildings use and how much electricity the panels generate. After a month of use, Barton Electric can look at the data to determine the offset.
