Felony domestic abuse charge thrown out at unusual trial

NEWPORT — A person hearing how Orleans County State’s Attorney Jennifer Barrett treated her principal witness against Ryan McCullough might well have been confused about who was actually on trial. She repeatedly attacked Katrina McCullough’s credibility and suggested she might perjure herself to protect her husband.

Mr. McCullough went before a jury on March 30. He was charged with a felony charge of aggravated domestic abuse and a misdemeanor of domestic abuse.
