Cutting all ash not advisable, state says

The emerald ash borer has officially arrived in Vermont, but it’s not yet at Orleans County’s doorstep, Barbara Schultz, forest health program manager for the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation, said on Monday.

The emerald ash borer, long a worry, was reported as officially present in Orange County on February 27. The insect was reported through the vtinvasives.org website, and officials with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service confirmed the identification of the beetle.
