CRAFTSBURY — The whine and mumble of a half dozen chainsaws and wood splitters echoed Saturday, as about a dozen townsfolk processed firewood to give to those in need.
Craftsbury’s effort to get wood to people who might not otherwise be able to afford it is organized under the auspices of the Craftsbury Energy Committee and Neighbor-to-Neighbor, said Kevin Gregoire, an organizer of the day’s efforts. Mr. Gregoire said the group has about 12 cords of wood so far this year and is hoping to get another six. To date, about ten households have signed up to receive wood.
