The Lake Region Union High School soccer Rangers had a great run, amassing a 14-0 record in the regular season, surpassing Bellows Free Academy of Fairfax in the playdown, and, on Friday, defeating Milton Academy in the quarterfinals.
On Tuesday, though, they met their match in the Division 2 semifinal game in the form of a hard pressing team from U-32. In a contest that was decided in the final moments of play, the Rangers bowed to the Raiders by a score of 3-2.
In the early moments Lake Region appeared to have the game in hand. The Rangers drew first blood after barely five minutes of play when a shot by Matthew Stebbins trickled past Raiders goalkeeper Derek Cote.
