NEWPORT — Jennifer Simard sobbed as Orleans County Sheriff’s Department deputies escorted her into court Monday. The 46-year-old Brownington woman was arrested Saturday after a grand jury handed up a true bill charging her with second-degree murder and manslaughter in the stabbing death of Kevin Smith two years ago.
According to police reports from the time, Ms. Simard called 911 on March 28, 2016, and said she found Mr. Smith unresponsive at her house on the Evansville Road in Brownington.
