Willey’s — 125 years of storekeeping

GREENSBORO — On February 14 and February 16, the Willey’s Store will celebrate 125 years in the community. Since it opened its doors in 1900 the store has been run by five generations of Willeys, each cementing the general store as a fixture of Greensboro.

Today’s iteration of Willey’s is three times the size of the original store purchased at the turn of the twentieth century by Burt Madison Willey.  He initially moved to rural Vermont to farm.

The building continues to function much as it did back then, supplying people with items needed for day-to-day life.  Over time and with several expansions of the original property, it has also come to offer seemingly everything else one might want, too.
