NEWPORT — United Christian Academy hosted a special visitor on Friday. As part of a tour of schools from all fifty states, Mary Christina Riley, a representative from the U.S. Department of Education, came to the school for a tour of the facilities. The occasion gave students and staff at the academy a chance to share what they love about their school and talk about the programs provided to students.
At about 9:30 in the morning, Ms. Riley stepped through the doors of the school. Ms. Riley is the Assistant Secretary with the education department’s Office of Legislation and Congressional Affairs. United Christian Academy was nominated for the visit as part of the education department’s History Rocks: America 250 Trail to Independence tour.
