Shatney

I would like help researching my Vermont Shatney family, primarily in the counties of Caledonia, Lamoille, and Orleans. I have traced the family back only to Mitchel and Alice (Miles) Shatney of Eden, Vermont. Their daughter Irene ElviaShatney Mason (b. 1896) of Albany, my paternal grandmother, had several brothers and sisters but unfortunately I have lost touch with most of them and their children. In addition to Albany and Eden, members of the family may be located in Barton, Cabot, Greensboro, Hardwick, Sheffield, and Walden, Vermont, as well as upstate New York and Coos County, New Hampshire. I remember Great-uncle Claude Shatney (b. 1898), his wife, Doris, and their children Sigrid Shatney Newkirk and llefShatney. And, of course, I remember Great-aunt Ethel Shatney Wells (b. 1886) and her husband, Henry, of Morristown, our neighbors for many years. I’m hopeful of receiving information about the other siblings and their families: Clarence (b. 1880), Edward (b. 1882), Alma (b. 1884), Frank (b. 1888), Cora (b. 1890), and Eva (b. 1894). MitchelShatney was born in PQ, Canada, in 1862, so I am also interested in any information about relatives still located there. Canadian records of the family may be found under the surnames Chatneau or Chateaunef, the original spellings before the name was anglicized to Shatney.
