kate's beltKate Dion, owner of Kate’s Creative Ceramic & Art Studio in Albany, has always been interested in art. Her mother was an artist, and she sparked an early interest in various forms of artwork for Kate. Kate has been in business for 25 years.
She started working with various products and mediums as a teen. She took classes in leather and ceramics at CCV (Community College of Vermont), where she worked for two years with a ceramicist (ceramics teacher). She has her own style, and loves to create unusual pieces. She offers service with a personal touch. She has the
ceramic shop, which offers thousands of greenware and bisqueware pieces to choose from, plus many one-of-a-kind pieces and special made-to-order pieces. She can make
kate's jarslamps, music boxes, water fountains, wind chimes, candleholders, and clocks, to name a few. She also teaches ceramics classes, and will help you pick the piece, fire it for
you, and even help you paint it. If you have a new idea for a ceramic piece, just let her know, and she can come up with a solution. She has started a new line with urns for loved ones’ ashes, which are hand painted and specially designed. She can be as creative as you need in designing these unique ceramic urns, tailored to each personality. In addition to ceramic pieces, she has started doing hand painted tiles for walls and as accent pieces.
Kate also specializes in working with leather: hand tooled, hand laced, and hand
painted pieces such as purses, belts, and wallets. She has a nice selection of handmade
jewelry, made from ceramics, beadwork, and leather, along with vintage jewelry, and will
make a piece to your specifications. She also works with other mediums, such as wood, and makes clocks, lamps and wall hangings, all unique and beautiful. She has the gift shop on the premises, where you can see samples of her work, and is working on a website soon to be completed. You will definitely get service with a big smile
when you come to Kate. Whether you are looking for something unique, something for a
holiday or special occasion, or something special for yourself, Kate can make it for you.

Picture 1Mountain Country Soap sells much more than soap. Their product line includes unique bath and body products with a focus on totally natural ingredients, the finest from around the world, to create products that are gentle and beneficial to the skin.

The business is noted for its “Aging Hippie” bath and body products, their best sellers since 1999. Recently, Mountain Country Soap has added a line of new products, including their own embellished body wash, perfume oils, and scents such as lime basil Mandarin, white tea and ginger, sea glass, and one fish-two fish. The products are so popular that several local spas are using them for skin treatments for their own customers.

“Our dedication is basic and simple: To provide quality products and service greater than our customers’ expectations,” says owner, Dianne Reardon.

Ms. Reardon began creating skin friendly bath and body products in 1993 out of the desire to come up with what worked for her own family’s sensitivities. “In the beginning, I was creating more products than we could possibly use, so I was giving them away to family and friends,” she says. “I began getting phone calls from people who wanted to buy our products, and Mountain Country Soap was born.”AGH-ALL4-2012 no body butter

The line includes natural soaps, lotions, body washes, balms, butters, perfume oils, and shaving soaps. Many appeal to people with skin sensitivities.

“Customers appreciate that our products are made by real people and not mass produced,” Ms. Reardon says. They also like the unique names, which include: Coyote Moon, Hippie Peace, and When Pigs Fly and Swamp Juice for the kids.

Shop online, or at the store, which is now open on Saturdays. Customers may also call to make an appointment for their convenience. Mountain Country Soap has maintained a five-star rating with its online sales for more than ten years. Shop anytime with free shipping offers at their website and at Amazon.

Retail store open Sat. 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Owned by Steve and Amy Wheeler, the business is celebrating its 14th year of operation. The business began as Jed’s Maple Products, a maple sugaring operation in Westfield that expanded quickly into many maple specialty foods. Through the years the Wheelers acquired the Northeast Kingdom Mustard Company and Rabbi’s Roots! Horseradish, and now produce dozens of absolutely tantalizing specialty foods. Their gourmet products can be found in many stores in the Northeast Kingdom as well as specialty and grocery stores nationally. The Wheelers are especially proud to announce the relocation of their business to a state-of-the-art food production facility they built in Derby. Located on Derby Pond Road, the building includes both wet and dry production rooms as well as a gift shop for stop-by traffic. Summer plans include the sale of maple candy seconds, maple donuts and, of course, maple creemies made with their own organic maple syrup. The couple also encourages people to visit the operation and take a quick tour of the facility, and during maple sugaring season, see the first steam boiler fired exclusively by used vegetable oil in the state in full operation. Wheeler Sugarworks and the Wheeler family would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who visited during their 14th Annual Sugar-on-Snow Party and Open House, and those who have supported their business over the years by buying their products.
