Central Orleans Family Education Center (COFEC) is the home of the Orleans Central Supervisory Union offices and the Orleans Central Early Childhood Program. Approximately 40 people work at COFEC, which also provides space for monthly WIC clinic appointments for the VT Department of Health and the weekly Early Head Start Play World, a free playgroup for children age birth to six. Play World is held on Friday mornings during the school year from 9:30 to 11: 30 a.m. and snacks are provided.
The Orleans Central Early Childhood Program operates in collaboration with Head Start to provide preschool services to approximately 85 OCSU children, including a classroom at Albany Community School. There are three colorful preschool classrooms at COFEC, as well as two playgrounds and a large multi-purpose room with a kitchen.
The Orleans Central Supervisory Union administrative offices are located at COFEC, including the offices of the superintendent and the director of instructional services. OCSU Support Services are located there, which include the support services coordinator, the achievement assessor, the district’s school psychologist, and the speech and language pathologist. The OCSU Business Office is home to the business manager, as well as payroll, accounts payable/receivable and benefits personnel.
Wild Branch Solutions, which provides technical support for OCSU and the seven local schools, has a work station at the COFEC and various community organizations frequently use the COFEC for meetings and events.
