Jay Village Inn
Jay Village Inn

When Vernon Hamel, known as “JR,” opened the Jay Village Inn & Restaurant several years ago, he brought 31 years of experience with
him. He has been providing high-quality food and service
to the people of the Jay area “forever,” as he puts it. Mr. Hamel and his staff of 14 offer something for everyone — burgers, pizza, handcut

They offer lunches daily as well, and also now serve breakfast daily from 6:30-11 a.m. The inn began as a barn, built in 1902, which Mr. Hamel remodeled over the past five years. Far from its former purpose, the inn has 16 rooms, a 45-seat restaurant, and a small pub with a full service bar. Guests may enjoy the heated outdoor pool or hot tub, the indoor sauna, and the pool table. The Jay Village Inn offers weekly pool tournaments as well as horseshoe tournaments in the summer.
The inn is open year-round, and can accommodate wedding rehearsal dinners. There is plenty of parking. They are located on the VAST trail. Mr. Hamel and the staff are very community minded; they want you to come back over and over again. Every time you eat at the Jay Village Inn you will walk away feeling fulfilled. Go ahead and make the trip to downtown Jay — you won’t regret it. A great dining alternative! Join them for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Open daily at 6:30 a.m.

Picture 5“Where hawks fly, so will your spirit and imagination!” That’s the motto at the Garden of Edie Bed and Breakfast. Edith Lindblom-Warthin opened the bed and breakfast in 2004. It’s set high atop a mountain in Derby with panoramic views of the Northeast Kingdom and
Canada. “The quiet pastoral setting is sure to calm, as you experience the old world
charm of antique furniture as it meets modern comfort and convenience,” says Ms.
Lindblom-Warthin. In addition to the lovely setting, a full gourmet breakfast is served with delicacies from Edie’s kitchen. She has three uniquely decorated bedrooms — one on the first floor with a full bed, another on the second floor with a queen-sized bed, and a third with twin beds.
