Champlain Valley Equipment was first established in 1970, with its roots in Middlebury. It has grown from three full-line stores just a year ago to four locations throughout Vermont — in Middlebury, St. Albans, Derby, and Berlin. There are now 83 employees with combined work-related experience of approximately ten decades.
Champlain Valley Equipment is committed to the farming and rural community lifestyle. Even with the expansion of the company, they pride themselves on keeping local roots with both their employees and general manager, Josh Provost, who owns the store in partnership with Brian and Russell Carpenter of Middlebury.
Champlain Valley Equipment sells a full line of agricultural equipment from New Holland, Case IH, Kuhn-Knight, H&S, Woods, and Kubota. For recreational equipment they sell Yamaha and Polaris ATVs, side-by-sides and snowmobiles.

Harvest Equipment is under new management. On February 9, 2012, Lionel Theriault, the John Deere dealer in Presque Isle, ME, purchased Harvest Equipment, the John Deere dealer headquartered in Newport, VT. Today, Harvest Equipment is composed of four stores currently selling John Deere farm, lawn and garden, and light industrial equipment in stores located in Williston, Newport, Swanton and Montpelier, VT. The organization will continue as you know it today under the name Harvest Equipment. The new owner is Lionel Theriault, a long-time Deere dealer operating two stores in northern Maine. We are very excited about this new venture, and even though this acquisition is a big step for us, we intend to keep it as seamless as possible for you – our customer. We invite you to keep doing business with the people and store you are most comfortable with. As we move forward, our intent is to build on those relationships and win your continued support and confidence by responding to your needs in a manner that earns your satisfaction and endorsement. The employees that you have come to know at Harvest Equipment will remain. Scott Miller has been the General Manager and will continue in that role for this organization. Armand St. Onge is the store manager for Newport; Eric Severy is the store manager at Swanton; Ken Thomas is the store manager for Williston; and Chris Gibson is the store manager at the Montpelier location. The greatest strength of this organization is our people. By and large, you know and have worked with most of them and they all have many years in the industry serving customers in farming, landscaping, light industrial and the home owner segment. We view what we do as more than just a job – it is who we are. Regardless if it is sales, parts, or service, we take active interest in helping you – and we want to do it well. We know we must earn your respect by knowing and understanding the products we sell – but we also know that long term success can only be realized as we treat you in a manner that we would want to be treated. True customer satisfaction and loyalty only occur as we do business with people who are in a relationship with us, and that is earned through honesty, fairness, and a real concern for you. The goal at Harvest Equipment is to strive to offer quality product, parts that are available when you need them, and service that drives customer satisfaction. In order to best serve you, we seek to continually improve in every aspect of our business. We look forward to seeing you in the near future for all your equipment needs. We are excited about what lies ahead. “Nothing Runs Like a Deere!” -Regards, Lionel Theriault
